Arts Council of Northern Ireland

The Arts Council of Northern Ireland is delighted once again to be a principal funder of the City of Derry International Choral Festival. In a few short years this major Festival has helped to establish Derry City as a centre of excellence for choral singing and music. This is a great example of how the arts can put a place on the map for all the right reasons.

The participation this year of The Sixteen, one of the world’s most celebrated vocal ensembles, further cements this Festival’s international reputation. The Sixteen will undoubtedly be a major attraction and will add to the continuing growth in interest in choral singing here.

As a Festival that provides inspiration and opportunity not only to audiences but to an emerging generation of singers and musicians, the City of Derry International Choral Festival is building a very important legacy for the arts. We wish all those taking part in the 2016 Festival another tremendous success.

Derry City and Strabane District Council

As Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, I am delighted that we are once again hosting the City of Derry International Choral Festival.

Now in its fourth year, the Festival has built on the legacy of City of Culture 2013 and is going from strength to strength. Not only does it attract choirs from across the globe, with choirs coming from as far afield as Indonesia this year, it also shines a light on our local singing talent, with a Festival Chorus combining over 100 singers from choirs in the area, and many school and community choirs participating in the competitions, community concerts and pop-up events around the city.

The Council welcomes the opportunity to support this Festival, which has already gained international recognition at the highest level and which provides a platform for singers of all ages and backgrounds to come together, share their experiences and celebrate a joyful feast of music-making.

On behalf of Derry City and Strabane District Council, I would like to extend my best wishes to everyone associated with the Festival and wish it every success.

Alderman Hilary McClintock
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council

Tourism NI

Tourism NI is a proud sponsor of the City of Derry International Choral Festival. Now in its fourth year, the Festival promises to be a splendid celebration of everything choral music has to offer with an exceptional line-up of both local and accomplished international choirs for all to enjoy. The varied programme on offer will attract many more visitors to the city, generate a significant impact for the local economy and contribute to Northern Ireland’s positive profile as an attractive destination.

Last year the Festival welcomed an array of international visitors to the city and this year we hope to see even higher visitor numbers.
