Fourth City of Derry International Choral Festival a resounding success!

Over five song-filled days, Europe’s fastest growing choral festival hosted over 2,000 talented singers from around the world and welcomed over 10,000 music-loving visitors to the city.
This year’s City of Derry International Choral Festival saw almost 60 choirs fill all corners of the city with music. With a choral symposium, workshops, choral trails, a sacred trail, community concerts and competitions, the festival celebrated the very best that choral music has to offer.
Audiences were also privileged to hear world-class guest artists, including The Sixteen and Harry Christophers, making their second visit to the Festival in just three years, German a cappella group SLIXS and Norwegian vocal ensemble Fauna.
The festival also focused on emerging vocal talent with the primary & post-primary competitions, while the national competitions treated audiences to an extremely high standard of singing throughout Saturday and Sunday.
One of the Festival highlights came on Sunday evening in St. Columb’s Hall, when a very excited and emotional Bogor Agricultural University Student Choir from Indonesia emerged as overall winner of the prestigious International Competition. It narrowly beat the Chamber Choir of Mannheim University of Music, Germany, followed closely by Ireland’s Mornington Singers.
