Do you like to sing? Would you or your choir like an opportunity to perform for others and to listen to other choirs? Now is your chance. After 18 months of silence, the music returns.
On Saturday 23rd October, as part of the Big Sing Day in the City of Song, there will be performance stages, choral trails, interactive workshops in the Millennium Forum with a team of leading international choral directors and music educators, a Big Sing in the Foyle Arena, guest artists, and the opportunity to enjoy a special viewing of a virtual concert performance by Grammy Award-winning American vocal ensemble Chanticleer, specially commissioned by the festival.
On the Friday evening (22 Oct) we welcome one of the world’s leading choirs, Tenebrae, for a live concert in the historic surroundings of St Columb’s Cathedral. Why not extend your visit and join us for that event, or stay through until Sunday (24 Oct) and take part in our Sacred Trail programme of singing in church services across the city.
The Festival team is committed to providing both an enjoyable singing experience and a Covid-secure environment for participants and audiences in all venues and at all events during the Festival. Full details of arrangements will be made available to all participants and audiences in advance of the festival.
If you would like to be part of this programme please register your interest at the link below.
Choirs are invited to participate in our 2021 Virtual Choral Trail by submitting video performances to feature throughout the festival’s digital programme from 20 - 24 October.
We ask that choirs submit one to two videos of no more than five minutes each, and the deadline for sending them is Friday 30 September. These performances will be showcased on the festival's Facebook page, YouTube channel and website during festival week.
Submit NOW by filling in this short form about your choir and what you are performing in the video. Alternatively, if you would like to send the video by WeTransfer or Dropbox you can do so by emailing it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
All live events will be subject to restrictions and guidelines for indoor performances. The Festival will adhere to all social-distancing and COVID safety rules in place at the time of the event.
