2019 City of Derry International Choir Festival
Welcome to the seventh edition of the City of Derry International Choir Festival, which will take place from Wednesday 23 to Sunday 27 October 2019.
First held in 2013, the City of Derry International Choir Festival is now established as a major event in the musical life of Northern Ireland and as the only international choir festival of its kind in the UK. The festival welcomes more than 60 choirs each year, ranging from local and school groups to vocal ensembles, adult, community and gospel choirs.
The impressive panel of adjudicators for 2019 includes some of the most experienced and finest directors currently working with ensembles throughout the choral world. The Chair, Josep Vila i Casañas (Spain), will be joined by Hermia Schlichtmann (Germany), Borbála Szirányi (Hungary), Neil Ferris (England) and Róisín Blunnie (Ireland).
Below you will find the details of the many ways in which you can participate, both competitively and non-competitively. We look forward to seeing you in Derry soon!
There are many ways to take part in the 2019 festival:
- As a competing choir in one or more of our many categories of competition.
- As a non-competitive choir in platforms within the festival and pop-up events around the city.
- As an observer or participant in our conducting masterclasses.
- As a singer in our Festival Chorus.
- As a volunteer helping out with events and guiding visiting choirs.
