Opening Gala Concert
Ulster Orchestra, Festival Chorus and Guest Soloists
Thursday 22 October, Millennium Forum

Be part of something truly special.

For our 2026 Opening Gala, the Festival Chorus joins the acclaimed Ulster Orchestra and guest soloists for a powerful and rarely performed masterpiece – Christus am Ölberge, Op. 85 by Ludwig van Beethoven.

Christ on the Mount of Olives is Beethoven at his most dramatic and human – a gripping portrayal of Christ’s anguish, courage and triumph. Seldom performed, this large-scale work is a hidden gem in Beethoven’s output, making this a unique opportunity to experience (and perform in!) something audiences rarely get to hear live. Expect intensity, beauty, and moments of real theatrical power.

In the other half, the Ulster Orchestra takes centre stage with Symphony No. 7 in A major, Op. 92 – one of Beethoven’s most exhilarating and rhythmically driven works. From the haunting beauty of the Allegretto to the unstoppable momentum of the finale, it’s a symphony that pulses with energy and leaves a lasting impression.

You don’t need to be a member of a choir to take part. If you love to sing and want to be part of a large-scale, high-impact performance with professional orchestra and soloists – this is for you.
